Fabrication Tender Bid/No-Bid Checklist
A structured bid decision checklist covering customer fit, scope clarity, capability, capacity, commercial risk, evidence, timing, and approval.

What this resource is for
Bid/no-bid review protects scarce estimating time, but a generic numeric score can create false certainty. The checklist records evidence across strategic fit, scope, capability, capacity, customer, programme, commercial terms, and decision ownership.
The final decision remains accountable human judgement. Reasons and conditions are kept visible so a conditional bid does not become an unexplained commitment.
Designed for: Fabricators and job shops deciding whether an RFQ or tender deserves estimating capacity.

Fields and review points
How to use it
Review evidence before enthusiasm
Confirm what has actually been supplied, when the response is due, and whether scope, quantity, process, quality, and delivery requirements are understandable.
Test current business fit
Review capability, capacity, customer relationship, strategic value, commercial terms, payment risk, and the cost of estimating the opportunity.
Record decision conditions
Choose bid, conditional bid, hold, or no-bid. State required clarifications, exclusions, review owners, and approval rather than relying on an unexplained score.
Important review boundaries
- The checklist does not perform credit, legal, sanctions, or contract review.
- Do not invent a probability of winning without evidence.
- A bid decision should be revisited when material scope or terms change.
Questions about this resource
Does the worksheet calculate a bid score?
It provides an optional review status by area, but it does not pretend that one weighted number can replace accountable judgement.
Can a no-bid opportunity be reopened?
Yes. Preserve the original decision and reasons, then create a reviewed update if scope, timing, capacity, customer evidence, or commercial terms materially change.
